We’re looking forward to seeing you on Friday. In addition to the information on the website: https://www.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk/product/2019-prologue-ride/ please find a few notes below to assist you.
Janet (Crug Glas) will provide bacon rolls (£2.00) from 08:30hrs.
Briefings will commence at 09:00hrs, please have an idea of the pace you’d like to ride at so we can group you accordingly. Experience has shown that riders enjoy the event more if they’re not struggling to keep up. We aim to have about six riders and one leader in each group so if you’d like to ride with anyone in particular, you’ll need to join the group which suits the slowest rider.
It may be windy, cold and wet so please dress suitably, fit lights to your bike and carry a source of energy, we’ll have gels at the start.
As well as a leader we will provide you with a route card and you may like to familiarise yourself with the routes on the website and download them to a navigation device.
If you have any mechanical issues look out for Joe Kitchell who will be parked at the start and then out on the course. His number will be on your route card.
Simon Warren, author of 100 Climbs, will be leading the fastest group on the 40 mile route which will provide a wonderful opportunity for you to share experiences.
There is insufficient hot water at the hotel for a high number of people to shower during a short space of time so we will provide wet wipes for anyone unable to get a hot shower. Please remember to bring a towel with you.
It is essential that you ride safely at all times and minimise inconvenience to other road users, so please keep this in mind, especially on the A487 and on narrow, twisty lanes.
We’re delighted that some of our helpers from behind the scenes will be present so do have a chat to them and feel free to provide them with any feedback. Huw Fairclough will be taking pictures Lloyds Volvo have provided a course car should anyone require recovery.
Bye for now, Peter
N.B. Don’t forget your helmet and shoes!

25 mile and 40 mile routes
Last year we created small guided groups to cater for all paces and abilities which was really appreciated by some riders who have not previously attended. We are anxious for everyone to enjoy their ride.
Here’s what one rider said: “There was a great camaraderie with my fellow riders, I am still in contact with some of them on Strava! The food and speakers were excellent – fantastic value for money!” – Chris Bloodworth.
