Terms and Conditions
Non-Competitive on-road events are not races and shall be organised simply to require that each participant must ride over a specified route within an agreed time. No non-competitive event shall be promoted, which requires the participants to maintain an average riding speed of not more than 18 m.p.h. ‘Average riding speed’ means the average speed when actually riding. In calculating this speed, all periods allowed for feed station stops must be deducted from the total time allowed for the scheduled distance.
All riders must ride in an orderly manner in accordance with the Highway Code, not more than two abreast, and extend all reasonable courtesy to other road users. The use of earphones (e.g. MP3, iPod) by participants is generally discouraged on the grounds of safety when riding in a group.
Participants will be responsible for their own cycle which must be fully roadworthy.
The wearing of hard shell helmets conforming to CE standards EN1078 is mandatory for riders under the age of 18. Senior riders are encouraged to wear helmets. Riders are not permitted to have their own ‘personal’ support car,any participant failing to observe this regulation will be withdrawn from the event.
All participants under the age of 18 must have a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All riders to carry:
A form of identification, showing their name, address and the contact details of a person to be advised in the event of an accident.
Food, drink, money, a mobile phone, spare inner tubes, a working pump, a basic tool kit and any spare clothing, sufficient to complete the ride being undertaken, taking into account the route and possible adverse weather conditions.
