"Wales Air Ambulance is a national charity that should be supported by all. Hopefully it will never be personally required, either by the person being sponsored [or his or her family], or by the person sponsoring [or his or her family]. You never know when an incident may occur, maybe mountain biking in the welsh mountains or even whilst enjoying yourself on a beach. Wales Air Ambulance is on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 52 weeks of the year.
Since being launched in March 2001, Wales Air Ambulance has undertaken in excess of 7,300 missions, ranging from the most serious e.g. road traffic accidents, to the not so life threatening e.g. sporting injuries. There are three helicopters in service, one in the north, one in central and the other in south Wales. As you can probably imagine, a very significant sum of money is required on an annual basis to maintain the service. So come on, pester your family and friends to raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile cause. You will all feel a tremendous sense of self satisfaction for having done so".
Very sincere thanks to you all on behalf of Wales Air Ambulance, and the promoters of The Tour of Pembrokeshire Cyclosportive.
Bryan Jones CHAIRMAN - Tour of Pembrokeshire
The 2009 event once again proved very successful and the organisers have to date been able to raise in excess of £20,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance. This amount is the funding equivalent of 15 sorties, resulting potentially, in the saving of 15 lives. It is the aim of Tour of Pembrokeshire to continue to support this worthy charity again in 2010.
